The NYL-2 has several models within this number designation. The NYL-2 (last MSR was $4,750) is very similar to the NYL-1 except costs about 1/3 less and features these changes. The NYL-2 has a press curved solid spruce top with five-ply maple back and sides, a original style New Yorker pickguard, New Yorker brass trapeze tailpiece, and was available in all the same colors. This model is then broken down into different sub-models including the NYS-2 (last MSR was $4,500), a small-body version (14.5 in.), the NYL-2 Custom (last MSR $6,450), which has better quality woods, the NYL-2 Lefty (last MSR was $4,950) in left-hand configuration (the only one in the collection), and the NYL-2FH (disc.), which features an Alnico humbucker pickup.
