ACACIA | ELECTRIC BASS | All Acacia bass body contours are hand carved. The 24-fret neck is available in any scale lengths at no additional charge. Hardware is available in gold or black. Basses can be ordered with electronics by Lane Poor, Bartolini, Aero, and John East. Friedman also offers choices of bookmatched tops such as striped ebony, tulipwood, leopardwood, kingwood, or pink ivory. The Custom featured a sleek offset double cutaway mahogany body, bookmatched exotic wood top/back, through-body multilaminated neck (four- and five-string basses feature a nine-piece design while the six- and seven-string models feature a 13-piece neck) of Wenge, Mahogany, and other exotic woods with graphite epoxy reinforcement, 24-fret ebony or snakewood fingerboard, customer's choice of electronics/preamp/EQ, and available in Natural Oil finish. This model was produced from 1986 to the early 2000s. Last retail prices were $3,800 for the four-string, $4,000 for the five-string, $4,200 for the six-string, and $4,400 for the seven-string. The Emotion featured a sleek offset double cutaway body, bookmatched exotic wood top/back, through-body multilaminated Wenge or zebrawood neck, ebony fretless fingerboard, ebony bridge, Aero twin coil pickup, RMC bridge-mounted piezo pickup, volume/blend/EQ controls, John East preamp, and available in Natural Oil finish. This model was produced from 1995 to the early 2000s. Last retail prices were $4,200 for the four-string, $4,400 for the five-string, $4,600 for the six-string, and $4,800 for the seven-string. The Gruv featured a sleek offset double cutaway swamp ash body, bolt-on five-piece neck, 24-fret ebony fingerboard with sterling silver side dot inlay, Ebony bridge, Hipshot Ultralite tuners, two Custom Aero pickups, volume/blend/tone controls, and available in Natural finish.
