SHO-BUD
ACOUSTIC
Sho-Bro resonator guitars in the early 1970s featured a 17 in. body (4 5/8 in. body depth) with maple back and sides, bound rosewood fingerboard, 3-per-side polished plated geared tuners, metal resonator, 2 grill covered soundholes. The Model 6031 Hawaiian model has a squared neck, and playing card suites fingerboard inlays; the Model 6030 Spanish model has a rounded neck and "thumbprint" fingerboard inlays.
Later Sho-Bud acoustics have spruce tops and mahogany necks. The Club (Model 7720) features mahogany sides, and a 2-piece back; the Diamond (Model 7722) features rosewood sides and the 2-piece back. The Heart (Model 7724) has rosewood back and sides, mother-of-pearl inlays, and abalone purfling; the Spade (Model 7726) features a rosewood fingerboard, ebony bridge, and abalone bridge pins. The aptly named Grand Slam (Model 7728) has jacaranda back and sides, and an inlaid heel plate.
Sho-Bud and Sho-Bro acoustic guitars turn up infrequently at guitar shows. Average prices run from $600 to $1,000; buyers in the market have more control in the buy/sell arena by choking up on their wallets similar to big league baseball players choking up on their bats during a big ball game!
