Distributed by Stephen's Stringed Instruments, located in Seattle, WA. | Luthier/designer Stephen Davies created the Extended Cutaway (EC) that appears on his own instruments as well as licensed to certain Washburn models. Davies updated the 1950s four bolt rectangular neckplate with a curved "half moon" five bolt that helps lock the neck into the neck pocket. This innovative design eliminates the squared block of wood normally found at the end of a neck pocket, allowing proper thumb/hand placement as notes are fretted higher up on the neck and also avoids the old style side-to-side neck motion.
