SIMPSON-JAMES ELECTRIC BASS Simpson-James currently offers four different neck-through SJ-4 4-string models (list prices range from $1,400 to $1,900), and two SJ-5 5-string models (list $2,800). The Performer Series, introduced in 1996, is a rebirth of the Great American Workhorse of basses. Offering the same quality in a bolt-neck design, Performer series 4- and 5-strings range from $1,250 to $2,000. According to Christopher Mowatt, Simpson-James is currently hand-building to order only.
