| Surine basses are available in several string configurations, body styles, and features. Although the previous models are still available upon request, a newly introduced construction series is identified in two categories: NT (neck-through) and NB (neck-bolt). Each version further identifies the number of laminations in its neck construction. For example: NTVII = 7-piece neck-through construction. The Affinity models have virtually symmetrical body horns, and Bartolini BC soapbar pickups. The Protocol model features an exaggerated bass horn and Bartolini Precision/Jazz pickups. The Esprit model is a cross between the Affinity's symmetrical horns and the Protocol's extended bass horn. The Esprit was introduced in 1996. The Quest model has an extended bass horn similar to the Protocol but has an extended cutaway in the treble horn. The Quest Performaxe was designed to combine many features of Surine's popular models into a model that can be produced in a quicker time. The Regency features a semi-hollow body with an extended bass horn and a deep cutaway in the treble bout. Its fingerboard extends to include 33 frets. The Homage is completely different than any other Surine bass, and it is more traditional in styling. The Homage has a slight resemblence to a Fender Jazz Bass. NTVII: Honduras mahogany body core, bookmatched exotic wood top and back, and a matching headplate, contrasting wood veneer between body caps and core, seven-piece rock maple/walnut neck-thru-body, ebony, birdseye maple, or rosewood fingerboard, brass nut, MOP inlay logo, active electronics, black or gold hardware, and a clear gloss hydrocoat finish. NTIIII: Solid wood body wings and a matching headplate, three-piece rock maple/walnut neck-thru-body, ebony, birdseye maple, or rosewood fingerboard,brass nut, MOP inlay logo, active electronics, black or gold hardware, and a clear gloss hydrocoat finish. NTII: Solid wood body wings, two-piece rock maple neck-thru-body, rosewood fingerboard, standard logo decal, bone nut, passive electronics, chrome hardware, and a sanding sealer finish. The NB Series has the same specifications as the NT Series except that each version is a bolt-on construction instead of neck-thru-body. This series is designated as NBVII, NBIII, and NBI (one-piece rock maple neck). Old Series classifications: Series I: Honduras mahogany body core, bookmatched exotic wood top and back, five-piece flame maple/purple heart neck-thru-body, ebony fingerboard, brass nut, exotic wood headstock cap, MOP inlay logo, active electronics, black or gold hardware, and a clear satin acrylic finish. Series II: Solid wood body wings, three-piece flame maple/purple heart neck-thru-body, rosewood fingerboard, solid wood headstock cap, standard logo, active electronics, black hardware, and a clear satin acrylic finish. Series III: Solid wood body wings, two-piece hard maple neck-thru-body, rosewood fingerboard, standard logo, bone nut, passive electronics, chrome hardware, and a sanding sealer finish.
