All models in this series have the following, unless otherwise listed: cresting wave style maple body, pickguard, through-body maple neck, 20-fret rosewood fingerboard, fixed bridge, 2-per-side tuners, single coil/horseshoe pickups, 2 volume/2 tone controls, 3-position switch.
4000
- cresting wave style maple body, white pickguard, through-body mahogany neck, 20-fret rosewood fingerboard with white dot inlay, fixed bridge, cresting wave peghead with maple laminate wings, two-per-side tuners, chrome hardware, horseshoe pickup, volume/tone control, available in Autumnglo, Brownburst, Black, Fireglo, or Natural finish, mfg. 1955-1985.
4000L Light Show
- similar to the 4000 Bass, except has a Plexiglass top with frequency controlled internal lights, similar to the 331 Light Show guitar, mfg. early 1970s.
4001
- cresting wave style checkered bound maple body, white pickguard, through-body maple/walnut neck, 20-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with pearl triangle inlay, fixed bridge, cresting wave peghead, two-per-side tuners, chrome hardware, bar/horseshoe pickups, four knobs (two v, two tone), three-position switch, available in Fireglo or Natural finish, mfg. 1961-1987.
4001C64
- similar to 4001 except has horseshoe pickup, Kluson style tuners, neck-through body, available in Mapleglo or Fireglo finishes, mfg. 2001-present.
4001C64S
- similar to 4001C64 except has rehaped body and reversed head, available in Mapleglo finish, mfg. 2001-present.
4001 S
- similar to the 4001, except has unbound body, dot fingerboard inlay, export version, mfg. 1964-67, reintroduced 1980-85.
4002
- similar to 4000, except has checkered bound figured maple body, figured maple/walnut five-piece neck, bound ebony fingerboard with pearl triangle inlay, two humbucker exposed pickups, four knobs (two v, two tone), three-position switch, stereo and direct outputs, available in Mapleglo or Walnut finish, mfg. 1967-1985.
4003
- cresting wave style bound maple body, two-piece white pickguard, through-body maple neck, 20-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with pearl triangle inlay, fixed bridge, cresting wave style peghead, two-per-side tuners, chrome hardware, two single coil exposed pickups (metal cover over bridge pickup), four konbs (two v, two tone), three-position switch, stereo output, available in Natural finish, mfg. 1979-present.
4003 S
- similar to the 4003, except is the standard version of the 4003 with no binding, dot fingerboard inlay, and mono output, available in Red finish, mfg. 1980-1995.
4003/S5 Five-String
- similar to the 4003 S, except in five-string configuration and 3/2-per-side tuners, mfg. 1987-2003.
4003/S8 Eight-String
- similar to 4003 S, except in eight-string configuration, and four-per-side tuners, mfg. 1987-2003.
4003 S/SPC Blackstar
- similar to the 4003 S, except has a black body, neck, and fingerboard, white pickguard, and black hardware, available in Black finish, mfg. 1988-1997.
4003 S Tuxedo
- similar to the 4003 S, except has a white body, neck, and fingerboard, black pickguard, and black hardware, available in White finish, mfg. 1987-1997.
4004C CHEYENNE
- cresting wave style walnut body, through-body maple neck, 20-fret maple fingerboard with black dot inlay, fixed bridge, cresting wave style peghead with walnut laminates, two-per-side tuners, gold hardware, two humbucker exposed pickups, volume/tone control, three-position mini switch, available in Natural finish, mfg. 1993-2000.
4004CII CHEYENNE II
- similar to 4004C Cheyenne except has super contoured maple and walnut body, bubinga fingerboard, gold parts, available in translucent colors, mfg. 2001-present.
4004L LAREDO
- similar to 4004C Cheyenne, except has a hardwood body and chrome hardware, available in Jetglo finish, mfg. 1994-present.
4005
- offset double cutaway semi-hollow maple body, rounded top, bound wedge-shaped soundhole, white pickguard, through-body maple/walnut laminate neck, 21-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with pearl triangle inlay, tune-o-matic bridge, R style trapeze tailpiece, cresting wave style peghead, two-per-side tuners, two single coil exposed pickups, five knobs (two v, two tone, mix), three-position switch, chrome hardware, available in Fireglo or Natural finish, mfg. 1965-1984.
4005 WB
- similar to 4005, except has Old Style appointments with a bound body, mfg. 1966-1983.
4005/6 Six-String
- similar to the 4005, except in 6-string configuration and three-per-side tuners, mfg. 1965-1977.
4005/8 Eight-String
- similar to the 4005, except in eight-string configuration and four-per-side tuners, mfg. late 1960s.
4008 EIGHT-STRING
- cresting wave style bound maple body, white pickguard, through-body maple neck, 21-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with pearl triangle inlay, fixed bridge, cresting wave style peghead, four-per-side tuners, chrome hardware, two single coil exposed pickups (metal cover over bridge pickup), four knobs (two v, two tone), three-position switch, available in Fireglo or Natural finish, mfg. 1975-1983.
