RICKENBACKER
ELECTRIC: ELECTRO-SPANISH & MANDOLINS
Rickenbacker pegheads are generally of the same pattern and design. They have three-per-side tuners and plastic, or metal, logo imprinted plates. Twelve-string pegheads, while roughly similar to the six-string pegheads, are not the same size and have six tuners (three-per-side) running parallel to the peghead face and 6 tuners running perpendicular with routed slots in the peghead face to accommodate string winding.
Rickenbacker currently offers the 5002V58 Mandolin, a vintage-style solid body electric mandolin based on a similar model issued in 1958. The current reproduction has a maple and walnut laminated body, eight-string configuration, and single coil pickups. Available in Fireglo or Mapleglo finishes (retail list is $2,159). Most Rickenbacker instrument necks are maple (however, some are maple/shedua laminates). Pickguards and peghead plates are usually color matched, and controls are usually pickguard mounted (any differences will be listed where appropriate). Rickenbacker color finishes include Fireglo, Jetglo, Mapleglo, Midnight Blue, Red, Turquoise, and White. Midnight Blue, Red, and White finishes come standard with black hardware, binding, nameplate, and pickguard. Fireglo, Jetglo, Mapleglo, and Turquoise finishes come standard with chrome hardware, white binding, nameplate, and pickguard. The Vintage Reissue Series models are only available with chrome parts. In 1964, Rickenbacker's R style trapeze tailpieces replaced all other trapeze tailpieces.
