MEAZZI
ELECTRIC BASS
The Diamond solid body electric bass model, similar to the electric guitar model, was briefly produced between 1963 and 1964. The Diamond Bass had one pickup, a sparkle finish top, and a celluloid back overlay. Another model, the Double featured similar construction, but is the rarer of the two, and was also produced between 1963 and 1964.
Most Meazzi electric solid body basses featured a rosewood fingerboard with dot position markers and four-on-a-side tuners. Meazzi basses were available in Black, Green, Red, and Sunburst finishes with matching or natural finished headstock.
The Jupiter Bass solid body has an offset double cutaway body (no forward horns), 20-fret fingerboard, two pickups, half plastic pickguard/half chrome plated pickguard, chrome plate on upper bass bout with a curved slider (fader) volume control, fixed bridge, chrome bridge cover, two tone controls, and a curved slider (fader) volume control on lower half of the chrome plated pickguard. The Baby Jupiter is similar in design, except features a full length white plastic pickguard, one tone control, and a smaller chrome controls plate with a white curved slider (fader) volume control. Both models were produced between 1964 and 1969.
The Kadett Extra bass has a dual cutaway solid body, 20-fret fingerboard, large white pickguard, chrome bridge/metal tailpiece, chrome bridge color, two gold/chrome colored pickups, volume and tone controls, and a three-way selector switch. The Kadett Extra was produced between 1964 and 1969.
The Meteor bass was offered in two versions: one pickup (Meteor Bass I) or with two pickups as the Meteor Bass Extra. Both versions featured an offset double cutaway body (no forward horns), 20-fret fingerboard, oversized white pickguard, fixed bridge, chrome bridge cover, volume and tone controls (the Extra has an additional three-way toggle switch). Both versions were available between 1964 and 1969.
The offset double cutaway Tiger bass has a 21-fret fingerboard and an oversized white pickguard/top overlay - the two pickups, volume and tone controls, and metal bridge/tailpiece are all mounted to it. The tailpiece has a chrome cover. While the Tiger was available between 1964 and 1969, it has been noted that very few were actually made.
Other Meazzi bass models issued between 1964 and 1969 include the violin-shaped Effe hollowbody; and the Prinz and Spezial hollow body models. All the hollow body basses have two pickups.
