MEAZZI | ELECTRIC | Most Meazzi models featured an "in-line" tuner headstock and bolt-on neck, similar to Fender style production. Keeping in line with the 1960s designs, many popular Meazzi models had a vague Burns and Fender Jaguar/Jazzmaster design feel. However, pickguard design and appointments are 100% original Meazzi. All hardware is chrome. Meazzi instruments are more plentiful in Europe than in the U.S. Until the secondary market is defined in the U.S., accurate used market prices are not available. Meazzi offered a number of archtop guitar models between 1964 to 1969. The Cerri archtop had a single pickup, and was the top of the line. The two pickup Zuccheri was produced in very limited amounts, making it a fairly rare model. Some of the hollow body guitar models offered between 1964 to 1969 include the Continental, which featured two pickups and a tremolo bridge; and the two pickup model Sheptre. The Corsair solid body had an offset double cutaway design, black pickguard, 22-fret fingerboard, six-on-a-side headstock, metal bridge/mute/tremolo tailpiece, two pickups, volume and tone controls. The Mustang has a similar body design, but features three single coil pickups and a different tremolo bridge configuration. Both models available between 1964 to 1969. The Diamond solid body electric guitar model was briefly produced between 1963 to 1964. The Diamond had one pickup, a sparkle finish top, and a celluloid back overlay. The Jupiter solid body guitar model has an offset double cutaway body (no forward horns), bolt-on neck, 22-fret fingerboard, six-on-a-side tuners, two single coil pickups, half plastic pickguard/half chrome plated pickguard, chrome plate on upper bass bout with a curved slider (fader) volume control, raised metal bridge/tremolo, two tone controls, and a curved slider (fader) volume control on lower half of the chrome plated pickguard. This model was also available with two DeArmond pickups, or as a hollowbody with additional preamp and blend controls. The Baby Jupiter guitar model is similar in design, except features a full length white plastic pickguard, one tone control, and a smaller chrome controls plate with a white curved slider (fader) volume control. Both models were produced between 1964 to 1969, and were available in Black, Blue, Green, Red, Red Sunburst, and Yellow Sunburst finishes. The dual cutaway Lovely has a 22-fret fingerboard, two single coil pickups, metal bridge/tremolo tailpiece all mounted on an oversized white pickguard/top overlay; the similarly designed Zephir features different pickups, and a different metal bridge/mute/tremolo bridge set up. However, the tremolo bridge is mounted on the body. The Zodiac forgoes the sleek body designs of the other models in favor of a single cutaway "artist's palette" shape similar to a Teisco May Queen. This solid body model has a 22-fret fingerboard, two pickups, metal bridge/mute/tremolo, volume and tone controls. Available between 1964 to 1969. | |
