Gray blended state of the art technology with handcrafted exotic wood tops. Standard features included a solid mahogany body and neck, 24-fret rosewood or ebony fingerboard, choice of 24 3/4 in. or 25.5 in. scale, and mother-of-pearl or abalone inlays. Gray also featured gold-plated hardware, Sperzel locking tuners, Seymour Duncan or Lindy Fralin pickups, and hand-rubbed lacquer finishes.
Gray offered four different variations of his custom guitars. The Carved Top (last retail was $2,995) featured an exotic wood top over the mahogany body, and had a set-neck. A Marquetry flattop (last retail was $2,995) had designs or scenes formed from exotic hardwoods, body binding, and a set-neck. An unsculpted exotic hardwood top and body binding was offered on the flattop (last retail was $2,795). Gray also built a Contoured Top/Bolt-on design (last retail was $2,495) with a carved maple top, maple neck, and either a maple, alder, or basswood body.
