KRAMER | ELECTRIC BASS: MIDI SERIES | In the mid-1980s, Kramer retailed a MIDI interface unit designed by IVL Technologies called the Pitchrider 7000. Ideally, any guitar could be hooked up to the Pitchrider 7000 using a hexaphonic pickup, have guitar information converted to a MIDI signal, and send that signal to any MIDI compatible synthesizer. Although not a guitar per se , this tool can add an extra dimension to an existing guitar (providing it tracks the note information properly). In 1988, the Pitchrider (Mark II) had a list price of $649; an additional MFS-40 foot switch was optional for an additional $150. | |
