IBANEZ
ELECTRIC: ARTSTAR/SEMI/FULL ACOUSTIC (AF/AM/AS/FA/FG) SERIES
The Artstar/Semi/Full Acoustic Series were archtop electric guitars offered by Ibanez from 1978-2003. These guitars are all Jazz-guitar variations based on popular American designs. The AF model has an ES-5 style with a thick body, the AM has a mini-ES-335 style with a thin body, the AS has a full-size ES-335 thin body, The FA is a full acoustic based on large American models, and the FG is a mid-sized full acoustic Jazz guitar. The FA series was produced between 1978 and 1982. The FG series was produced from 1982 and 1987. The Semi-Acoustic series was introduced in 1982 and produced until 1991, when the guitars were changed to the Artstar Series and produced until 2003. The Artstar Series was replaced by the Artcore Series.
AF80
- single rounded cutaway semi-hollow style, bound maple top, bound f-holes, maple back/sides, set-in maple neck, 22-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlay, adjustable rosewood bridge/trapeze tailpiece, bound blackface peghead with screened flower/logo, three-per-side tuners, raised black pickguard, two covered humbucker pickups, four knobs (two v, two tone), three-way switch, chrome hardware, available in Vintage Sunburst finish, mfg. 1994-96.
AF120
- similar to AF80, except has a bound spruce top, 20-fret fingerboard with pearl/abalone block inlay, two Ibanez Super 58 humbucker pickups, and gold hardware, available in Brown Sunburst finish, mfg. 1995-2003.
AF200
- single smooth cutaway ES-5 style body, spruce top, maple or flame maple back and sides, B/N/H binding, two bound f-holes, three-piece maple/mahogany set neck, 22-fret ebony fingerboard with fancy pearl block inlays, three-per-side tuners with pearl buttons, adjustable ebony bridge, trapeze tailpiece with wood AF logo, raised bound pickguard, four knobs (two v, two tone), three-way switch, gold hardware, available in Antique Violin finish, mfg. 1988-1997.
AF207 Seven-String
- similar to AF200, except in seven-string configuration, 4/3-per-side tuners, different pattern tailpiece, one DiMarzio humbucker pickup, two knobs (v, tone), and no switch, available in Brown Sunburst finish, mfg. 1997-2002.
AF220
- similar to the AF200, except has a full maple body, a bound rosewood fingerboard, adjustable rosewood bridge, and GE 103B metal tailpiece, available in Butterscotch Trans. finish, mfg. 1998 only.
AM50
- small symmetrical double cutaway thinline body, bound laminated maple, body, two f-holes, set neck, 22-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays, symmetrical headstock with three-per-side tuners, tune-o-matic style bridge, stop style tailpiece, two humbucker pickups, four knobs, three-way switch, chrome hardware, available in Brown Sunburst finish, mfg. 1983-84.
AM70
- small symmetrical double cutaway archtop body, bound birch body with maple center, two f-holes, set maple neck, 22-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays, symmetrical headstock with three-per-side tuners, Short Stop bridge/tailpiece, two humbucker pickups, four knobs, three-way switch, chrome hardware, available in Antique Violin, Black, or Cherry Sunburst finish, mfg. 1985-87.
AM75/AM75T
- similar to the AM70, except has a Pro Rock'r vibrato (1985) or Edge vibrato (1986-87), mfg. 1985-87.
AM100
- small symmetrical double cutaway thinline body, bound burl mahogany or laminated maple, body, two f-holes, three-piece maple/mahogany neck, 22-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with pearl/abalone inlays, symmetrical headstock with three-per-side tuners, Gibraltar II bridge, Quick Change II tailpiece, two humbucker pickups, four knobs, three-way switch, chrome hardware, available in Antique Violin (1989-1990), Metallic Black (1983-84), or Wine Red (1989-1990) finish, mfg. 1983-84, 1989-1990.
AM200
- double cutaway semi-hollow style, burl mahogany top with bound body/f-holes, raised pickguard, burl mahogany back/sides, three-piece mahogany/maple set-in neck, 20-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with pearl abalone rectangle inlay, tune-o-matic bridge stop tailpiece, bound peghead, three-per-side tuners, two Super 58 humbuckers, volume/tone control, three-way switch, gold hardware, available in Antique Violin finish, mfg. 1988-1996.
AM205
- small symmetrical double cutaway thinline body, bound burl mahogany maple, body, two f-holes, set neck, 22-fret bound ebony fingerboard with pearl/abalone block inlays, symmetrical headstock with three-per-side tuners, Gibraltar II bridge, Quick Change II tailpiece, two humbucker pickups, four knobs, three-way switch, gold hardware, available in Antique Violin finish, mfg. 1983-87.
AM255
- similar to the AM205, except has a Hard Rocker Pro Vibrato, mfg. 1984 only.
AM300
- similar to the AM100, except has a bird's-eye maple top with mahogany back and sides, and a rosewood fingerboard, available in Black or Pearl White finish, mfg. 1989-1990.
AM400
- similar to the AM200, except has a bird's-eye maple top with mahogany back and sides, one f-hole, a rosewood fingerboard, and gold hardware, available in Cherry Sunburst or White finish, mfg. 1988-1990.
AS50
- double cutaway semi-hollow style body, maple top/back/sides, f-holes, raised black pickguard, bolt-on maple neck, 22-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlay, three-per-side tuners, Full Tune II bridge, stop tailpiece, two humbucker pickups, four knobs (two v, two tone) three-position switch, chrome hardware, available in Antique Violin (1982), Butterscotch Trans. (1999), Brown Sunburst (1999), or Cherry (1982) finish, mfg. 1982, 1999.
AS80

AS180
- similar to AS80, except has a three-piece maple/mahogany set-in neck, cream dot fingerboard inlay, Gibralter II tune-o-matic bridge, and wrap-around tailpiece, available in Stained Sunburst finish, mfg. 1997-99.
AS200
- double cutaway semi-hollow body, bound flame maple top, flame maple back and sides, three-piece mahogany/maple neck, 22-fret ebony fingerboard with pearl/abalone block fingerboard inlay, three-per-side tuners with pearl buttons, Gibralter II tune-o-matic bridge, wrap-around tailpiece, two covered Super 58 humbucker pickups, four knobs, three-way siwtch, one mini-switch, gold hardware, available in Antique Violin finish, mfg. 1982-2000.
