 GRETSCH | | ELECTRIC: CHET ATKINS/NASHVILLE/COUNTRY CLASSIC/TENNESSEE ROSE SERIES | | When Gretsch was revived in the late 1980s and early 1990s, they reissued the popular Chet Atkins series. However, because of licensing agreements, they couldn't use Atkins' name on the guitars. Therefore the Chet Atkins Country Gentleman (Model 6122) became the Country Classic, the Chet Atkins Hollow Body (Model 6120) became the Nashville, and the Chet Atkins Tennessean (Model 6119) became the Tennessee Rose. The Chet Atkins solidbody was also renamed the Nashville solidbody. In 2007, Gretsch struck an endorsement deal with the estate of Chet Atkins to once again use his name on Gretsch guitars.
