GIBSON ELECTRIC: SPIRIT SERIES SPIRIT I - double cutaway mahogany body, bound plain or figured maple top, tortoiseshell pickguard, mahogany neck, 2-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlay, tunable wrapover bridge, blackface peghead with logo decal, 3- or 6- (new 1983) per-side tuners with plastic buttons, chrome hardware, 1 exposed humbucker pickup, volume/tone control, available in Natural, Red, or Sunburst finishes, mfg. 1982-88. Spirit II - similar to Spirit I, except has no pickguard, 2 exposed humbucker pickups, 2 volume/1 tone controls, mfg. 1982-88. Spirit II XPL - similar to Spirit I, except has bound fingerboard, Kahler vibrato, 6-on-a-side tuners, 2 exposed humbuckers pickups, 2 volume/1 tone controls, mfg. 1985-87.
