ELECTRIC: ESPRIT AND FLAME (MASTER SERIES) MODELS
In 1984, Fender introduced two models under the Master Series that were produced in Japan: the Esprit and the Flame. Both of these models came in three configurations: Standard, Elite, and Ultra with each one having a different level of appointments. The Flame models were smaller in configuration than the Esprit models.
ESPRIT STANDARD (JAPAN MFG.)
- double cutaway body, carved maple top, maple set neck, rosewood fingerboard, fully bound body and neck, two humbucker pickups with exposed poles, individual string bridge and tailpiece, two knobs, three-way switch, three-per-side tuners, available in Black or Sunburst finish, mfg. 1984 only.
Esprit Elite (Japan Mfg.)
- similar to the Esprit Standard, except has Snowflake fingerboard inlays, pearl tuners, fine tuner tailpiece, four knobs, and a coil-tap switch, available in Sunburst or other colors, mfg. 1984 only.
Esprit Ultra (Japan Mfg.)
- similar to the Esprit Standard, except has a bound ebony fingerboard with split block inlays, carved spruce top, ebony tuners, fine tuner tailpiece, four knobs, coil-tap switch, and gold hardware, available in Sunburst or other colors, mfg. 1984 only.
FLAME STANDARD (JAPAN MFG.)
