FENDER | PRODUCTION MODEL CODES | Current Fender instruments are identified by a part number that consists of a three digit location/facility code and a four digit model code (the two codes are separated by a hyphen). An example of this would be: 010-9200-000 (The 010-9200 part number is the California-built Stevie Ray Vaughn model.) As Fender guitars are built in a number of locations worldwide, the three digit code will indicate where production took place (this does not indicate where the parts originated, however; just assembly of components). The first digit differentiates between Fender bridges and Floyd Rose tremolos: 0 Regular Fender Product with no Floyd Rose tremolo 1 Fender Product with a Floyd Rose tremolo The second/third digit combination designates the production location: 10 U.S. Mfg. (Corona, CA) 11 U.S. Mfg. (Corona, CA) 13 Mexico Mfg. 14 Mexico Mfg. 15 U.S. Mfg. Custom Shop 19 U.S. Mfg. (Corona, CA) 25 Japan Mfg. 26 Korea Mfg. 27 Japan Mfg. 33 Korea Mfg. The four digits on the other side of the hyphen continue defining the model. The fourth/fifth digit combination is the product designation. The sixth digit defines left-handedness, or key parts inherent to that product. The final seventh digit indicates which type of wood fingerboard. The eighth digit indicates what type of case the guitar comes with. An eighth digit of "3" indicates a gig-bag, a "5" means the guitar comes with no case, a "7" indicates that the guitar comes with a standard case, and an "8" means it comes with a deluxe case. The last numbers (ninth and tenth) indicate the finish/color. Unless otherwise noted, most Series models are produced in the same country of origin. Here is the 1998 unofficial breakdown of Series by country of origin: Series names can be cross referenced against production model code to verify country of origin as well.
