ERLEWINE GUITARS
ELECTRIC
Luthier Erlewine produces three models. In 1979, Erlewine and Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top) developed the Chiquita Travel Guitar, a 27 in.long playable guitar that will fit in an airplane overhead storage. The Chiquita features a solid hardwood body and one humbucker. Later, the two developed the Erlewine Automatic, a cross between the best features of a Strat and a Les Paul. The Automatic is currently offered as a custom-built guitar, and the price is reflected in the customer's choice of options. In 1982, Erlewine developed the Lazer, a headless guitar with a reverse tuning bridge and minimal body. The Lazer model is highly favored by Johnny Winter. For more information on these guitars, contact Erlewine directly.
Erlewine licensed the Chiquita and Lazer model designs to the Hondo Guitar company in the early 1980s. The licensed models do not have Erlewine's logo on them. Erlewine also offers guitar repair work.
