The Gold Series is available in three different body styles: the Classic, the e-volution, and the New Jazz Standard.

The Empire Bolt-on became the Deluxe Bolt-on in 1999, and the entire model was disc. in 2000.
The Foundation Bolt-On Neck/Gold Standard Bolt-On bass guitar model has a solid swamp ash body, bolt-on quarter sawn wenge neck, wenge (or bubinga) fingerboard, Bartolini pickups, and 3-band active/passive preamp. The Foundation series became the Standard Bolt-on in 1999, and in 2000 it became part of the Gold Series. This model is now known as the Gold Standard. The Foundation/Gold Standard bass is available in four-string ($2,800), five-string ($3,000), six-string ($3,200), or seven-string ($3,400) configurations.
The Piccolo Bass Guitar with a 28.625 in. scale (tuned one octave higher than regular bass) was offered as a custom instrument in four-, five-, six-, seven-, and eight-string configurations. This model was a special-order bass and discontinued in 1999.
The New Jazz Standard was produced between 1999 and 2008. This model has a Jazz-bass resemblance, and is available as a four-string (last MSR was $2,600) and a five-string (last MSR was $2,800) only. These guitars feature 24 frets and the zero fret. A few early models feature 21 frets, which gives the bass a more familiar look.
The e-volution JJ was produced between 2005 and 2008. This model features a swamp ash body with a quilted maple top, a wenge neck/fingerboard, two Bartolini J-coils, Bartolini electronics, and a fixed set of options. The JJ was available in four-string (last MSR was $2,750) and five-string (last MSR was $2,950) configurations only.
