 DEAN | | ELECTRIC: DIMEBAG DARREL TRIBUTE SERIES | | Darrel "Dimebag" Abbott signed an endorsement deal with Dean in fall, 2004. Dimebag previously endorsed Washburn guitars from 1998 to 2004. Dimebag recieved a Dean guitar for Christmas from his dad in the late 1970s. He has played Dean guitars for several years and is known for the original Blue Lightning Bolt model that has been customized. Dimebag was fatally shot on stage at a Damage Plan concert on December 8, 2004, just a few weeks after announcing that he would be at the Winter NAMM show, 2005 to promote the new line of Dimebag guitars. At the request of Dime's family, Dean went ahead with the new line of guitars and they debuted at NAMM.
