CHARVEL
MODEL IDENTIFICATION/GENERAL INFORMATION
As a general rule of thumb, you can identify the country of origin on earlier instruments that have the guitar-shaped Charvel logo by the color of the logo. The early model guitars with black or gold logos were manufactured in the U.S., and the ones with white logos were manufactured overseas. Early guitar-shaped logos have a three-per-side headstock in the graphic; newer models have a six-on-a-side headstock in the graphic.
Charvel San Dimas and Charvel US guitars were built in California. Other production models are built in Japan and Korea.
The Charvel Custom Shop is the longest running guitar shop in the industry. Charvel advertises a custom shop and that is exactly what it is. The customer completely builds his or her own guitar part-for-part. The guitar starts at $2,500 and is available in the Dinky, San Dimas, San Dimas Traditional, or Star body shape or for a custom body shape there is a $250 upcharge. The bass starts at $2,000.
