CHAPIN ELECTRIC BASS The Phoenix (last MSR $2,675) has a double cutaway one-piece alder body, quilted or flame maple top, set-in graphite-reinforced wenge neck, 34 in. scale, striped ebony fingerboard, Bartolini pickups (P/J, JJ, or soap bar), active TBT electronics, Mann Made bridge, Hipshot Ultralite tuners, and a nitrocellulose finish. The Phoenix has an optional 35 in. scale 5-string (last MSR $2,975), 35 in. scale 6-string (last MSR $3,195), with a fretless fingerboard, multi-laminated body or choice of woods. This model was disc. circa 2003.
