BURNS LONDON LTD./BURNS U.S.A. | TRADEMARK DATING INFORMATION | Jim Burns' career spanned from 1958 through 1984. Along the way, Burns founded a number of production companies and company trademarks. The following is an overview of his companies: 1958: Supersound, with Alan Wooten. 1959: Burns-Weill, with Henry Weill. These models were Jim Burns' first production guitars. 1960-1965: Burns London. 1965-1970: Baldwin, Baldwin/Burns, importation by Baldwin to the U.S. market. Jim Burns stayed on with the company through 1966. 1973, 1974-1977: Burns, U.K. 1979-1984: Jim Burns company. 1992: Burns London formed by Barry Gibson, Jim Burns acts as consultant. 1998:Jim Burns passed away. 2002-2005: Codel Enterprises starts distributing Burns guitars in the U.S.A. This is when most reissue models started to appear in the American market. 2005-Present: Crafter USA becomes the exclusive U.S. distributor with significantly less guitars available. | |
