BLACKHURST | ELECTRIC | In 1996, Blackhurst introduced a new custom model that was called The Big One (retail list $2,000 and up). The Big One is a playable hand-carved guitar or bass shaped like a fish - bluegill, halibut, bass (you name it). This fully functional instrument can also be mounted on your wall, like the trophy catch that it is! Other models offered in the past include the more traditional STX and TLX that feature deeper body cutaways. The Tigershark series has a sleek double cutaway body design. The Tigershark I/II F has an alder body with cutaway neck heel, maple neck, ebony fingerboard, fixed bridge, and Seymour Duncan pickups (retail list $1,295 and up). The Tigershark I/II NL is the non-locking tremolo version (list $1,350 and up), while the Tigershark I/II-12 is the 12-string version. The Tigershark I/II-12 has 6 tuners on the lower bout, and 6 tuners on the headstock (list $1,350 and up). The limited production Tigershark II C/F features a highly flamed maple carved top and an alder body (list $2,250 and up). Prices range from $1,295 up to $2,250. | |
