ASTRO (ITALY MFG.)
Instruments previously built in Italy during the mid-to late 1960s. The U.S. distributor is currently unknown.
Astro guitars are entry-level instruments, similar to other late 1960s strat-y import/exports. According to owner Randy Varrone, his two pickup model has a bolt-on neck (four bolts and a plate), a ply body, six-on-a-side headstock, and a white pickguard with two pickups and controls mounted on it. The electronic controls feature a pickup selector marked "B/ALL/T," a volume knob, and two tone knobs marked "B" and "G."
As these instruments were entry-level to begin with, used models are generally priced between $79 and $119. Source: Randy Varrone, Pulse Music of Logansport, IN.
