AMPEG/DAN ARMSTRONG AMPEG | ELECTRIC BASS: SCROLL BASS REISSUE SERIES | In 1997, Ampeg offered the AEB-2 and the AUB-2 . Designed and developed by Bruce Johnson (Johnson's Extremely Strange Musical Instrument Company of Burbank, California) in cooperation with Ampeg beginning in 1995, the first prototypes were completed in November, 1996. Rather than just release a historic reissue, Johnson sought to marry the eye-catching original body design to state-of-the-art electronics and neck construction. | AEB-2 (FRETTED) | - offset double cutaway western ash body, bolt-on rock maple neck, 35 in. scale, 20-fret ebony fingerboard with white dot inlay, scroll headstock, aluminum bridge, brass tailpiece and nut, 2-per-side Schaller tuners, chrome hardware, humbucking magnetic pickup, bridge-mounted piezo pickups, 2 volume/tone controls, 3-position tone select switch, available in Solid Black (Model AEB-2 BL), Black with Natural Neck (Model AEB-2 BT), Natural (Model AEB-2 NT), and Sunburst (Model AEB-2 SB) finishes, mfg. 1997-2000. |
