The Compass Series featured a single smooth cutaway body that was a bit smaller than a regular full-sized jumbo acoustic and Yamaha used their two-way piezo/mic pickup electronics. The CPX 15 handcrafted series came in two regular versions (CPX 15/CPX 15A and the CPX 15CM) as well as four guitars named after the four points of the compass. Each direction represented a certain area of the world and each guitar had unique appointments in body woods, rosettes, and fingerboard inlays.
