WEISSENBORN | MODEL & STYLE INFORMATION | Most Weissenborn Hawaiians are three inches deep, although there are early Examples ranging from 2 to 2.5 in. and some little more than 1 in. deep. In general, Weissenborns were made in four styles: Additional pearl triangle marker lies with long side flush against nut. Weissenborn also made Spanish guitars and other instruments, although the Hawaiians seem to be the most numerous extant today. A handful of examples of mandolins, tenor and plectrum guitars have been seen and several uke models appear in Tonk Bros. catalogs. The curious paucity of ukuleles encountered so far makes valuation speculative at best. Note: Konas (because of they are less familiar among players, collectors and experts) and Spanish guitars with features equivalent to the Hawaiian models above may bring slightly lower prices. The publisher wishes to express his thanks to Mr. Ben Elder for the above information. | |
