UNITY
Instruments currently built by the Unity Guitar Company of Vicksburg and Kalamazoo, MI since 1994.
The Unity Guitar Company was founded by Aaron Cowles and Kevin Moats in 1994. Cowles, a former Gibson employee (from 1961 to 1983) opened his own music and repair shop after the Kalamazoo plant was closed down. Moats, son of Heritage Guitar's J.P. Moats, comes from a family background of musical instrument building.
In 1994, Unity offered a limited edition of the 100th Anniversary Model arch top guitar, which celebrates the 100 years of musical instrument building in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The inlay work was done by Maudie Moore (Moore's Engraving), who has over thirty years' experience. Unity was scheduled to begin offering their Custom Carved series of archtop guitars in 1995. It is unknown if they are still producing guitars today or not.
