PAUL REED SMITH GUITARS (PRS)
ACOUSTIC: 1992
Since only eleven acoustics were manufactured, it is tough to put a value on these guitars. It is also unknown where the guitars ended up after the prototype run. Keep in mind that these specs were based on the models having a long production run. Since they never went into production, it is possible that many of the features listed never appeared on the guitar and the MSR is an arbitrary value. Three different acoustic models were produced.
The Custom Cutaway featured a single flat cutaway dreadnought style, spruce top, round soundhole, abalone bound body and rosette, figured maple back/sides, mahogany neck, 20-fret Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with abalone bird inlay, Brazilian rosewood bridge with ebony pearl dot pins, 3-per-side chrome locking PRS tuners, volume/tone control, preamp system, and was available in Amber Sunburst, Antique Natural, Black Cherry, Gray black, or Walnut Sunburst finish. Last MSR on this model was $2,590.
The Mahogany Cutaway featured a single flat cutaway dreadnought style, spruce top, round soundhole, wood bound body and rosette, mahogany back/sides/neck, 20-fret rosewood fingerboard, rosewood bridge with ebony pearl dot pins, rosewood veneer on peghead, 3-per-side chrome locking PRS tuners, volume/tone control, preamp system, and was available in Antique Natural, Black, or Natural finish. Last MSR on this model was $1,970.
The Rosewood Signature featured a dreadnought style, spruce top, round soundhole, abalone bound body and rosette, rosewood back/sides, mahogany neck, 20-fret Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with abalone bird inlay, Brazilian rosewood bridge with ebony pearl dot pins, 3-per-side gold locking PRS tuners, gold endpin, volume/tone control, preamp system, and was available in Antique Natural or Rosewood Sunburst finish.
