| Ovation is currently offering a 8-string Mandolin (Model MM68) and 8-string Mandocello (Model MC868). Both models feature a solid Sitka spruce top, 21-fret ebony fingerboard, gold hardware, and onboard preamp. The Mandolin has a list price of $1,499, and the Mandocello is $2,199. Select Ovation acoustic/electric models can be ordered with a factory installed Roland GK-2 synthesizer interface as an option. This option includes a magnetic hex pickup, synth/guitar mix controls, and a controller output jack. All Ovation acoustic and acoustic/electric instruments have a synthetic rounded back/sides construction. The model number in parenthesis following the name is the current assigned Model Number. In 1976/1977, Ovation debuted the Medallion series guitars -- which was later renamed the Matrix series. These models were produced in the U.S., and featured a wood top, synthetic bowl back, and plastic headstock overlay. The original list price was $249. Ovation has released several Anniversary models over the years as many guitar companies do, to commemorate how many years they have been in business. Several of these models haven't been circulated in the secondary market and little is known about them. |
