MARTELLE
Instruments previously built in Kalamazoo, MI by Gibson during the late 1930s and early 1940s. See chapter on House Brands.
The distributor of this Gibson-built budget line of guitars has not yet been identified. Built to the same standards as other Gibson guitars, they lack the one true Gibson touch: an adjustable truss rod. House Brand Gibsons were available to musical instrument distributors in the late 1930s and early 1940s. These guitars may be worth some heavy money if they are authentic. More research is underway to accurately price them. However, when currently pricing them we recommend getting a few opinions. Source: Walter Carter, Gibson Guitars: 100 Years of an American Icon.
