McGILL GUITARS
Instruments currently built in Nashville, TN, since 1976.
Paul McGill started building guitars in 1976 at the age of eighteen after he attended Charles Fox's Earthworks School of Luthiery. McGill worked in Vermont, Georgia, and Wisconsin when he started work as a repairman for Gruhn's Guitar in Nashville, Tennessee. It was at Gruhn's where he developed a knack for building and repairing guitars. Several well-known artists have used McGill instruments including Chet Atkins, Earl Klugh, Nato Lima, Steve Earl, Beth Neilsen Chapman, Jim Stafford, Don Potter, John Standerfer, Jimmy Wyble, and Frank Koonse. Currently, McGill focuses on his latest guitar design, the nylon-string electric called the Super Ace, which is the stage instrument for guitarists Peter White and Marc Antoine. McGill continues to build classical guitars, resonators, and the occasional steel-string guitar.
