Guitars feature solid spruce tops, three-ply laminated mahogany or rosewood back and sides, and are available in a variety of configurations. The DM was the first Road Series guitar to debut in 1996 and several other models were introduced during the late 1990s and early 2000s. By the mid-2000s, Martin had thinned out their entry-level guitars and merged the diminishing 1 Series with the Road Series.
