MARTIN | ACOUSTIC: SIZE 7 MODELS | The 7/8-sized (Size 7) dreadnought was one of Chris Martin's first ideas in the early 1980s. After a trip in Japan, he noticed how large standard dreadnought guitars looked on the small frame of a Japanese guitar player. He came back to the factory and started to build the 7-28 - a 7/8-sized dreadnought with standard 28 style appointments. Unfortunately, the Size 7 body style never took off and only a couple hundred were ever produced. Size 7 dimensions: 13 11/16 in. lower bout width, 14.375 in. body depth, 17.5 in. body length, and 23 in. scale. | MODEL 7-28 | - 7/8-sized Dreadnought-style body, spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, round soundhole with three ring rosette (5/9/5 grouping), six-ply top body binding with outer white layer, three-ply back binding with outer white layer, unbound ebony fingerboard, three-per-side tuners, black pickguard, available as a special order item, mfg. 1980-1993. |
