LAKEWOOD
Instruments currently built in Giessen, Germany. Represented in North America by Bill Dixon in Boothbay Harbor, ME.
Luthier Martin Seeliger founded Lakewood Guitars in 1985. Seeliger apprenticed for three years with luthier Manfred Pletz, and then worked as a repairman for local music shops. His experience restoring and repairing different types and brands of acoustic guitars was utilized when he began designing his own style of acoustic steel string instruments. Lakewood guitars have a distinct wedge-shaped side profile, and both the top and back are slightly arched for strength and volume. These guitars are essentially custom shop models with dozens of options available. They build about 2,000 instruments a year. For more information contact Lakewood directly (see Trademark Index).
