LEWIS, MICHAEL A. | ACOUSTIC | Archtop models include the Studio, Standard, Deluxe, and Supreme. These are states of trim and material selection, and may be applied to 16 in., 17 in., 17.5 in., or 18 in. body sizes. Lewis also makes authorized replicas of John D'Angelico's Excel and New Yorker models. Most Lewis instruments are custom ordered and therefore unique, leaving the model designation somewhat vague. Regular archtop prices start at $7,200 and climb to over $20,000, and are determined by selection of materials, design, and other appointments. D'Angelico replicas start at $18,000. The overall design and structure is strongly influenced by D'Aquisto's and D'Angelico's work, but has some other concepts and considerations factored in. Built as acoustic instruments, they are also available with the option of Bartolini hum canceling jazz pickups and controls mounted on the pickguard. | |
