KOONTZ
Instruments previously built in Linden, NJ, during the 1970s and 1980s. Also see Standel and Harptone.
Luthier Stan Koontz designed several different models of acoustic and electric guitars and basses for Bob Crooks' Standel company. The instruments were built in Harptone's New Jersey facilities, and have the Standel logo on the peghead. Koontz also built his own custom guitars that featured such striking innovations as side-mounted electronics and a hinged internal f-hole cover. Stan passed away in the late 1980s.
