 KEN BEBENSEE GUITARS AND BASSES | | Instruments currently built in North San Juan, CA. Previously built in Nevada City and San Luis Obispo, CA. | | Luthier Ken Bebensee began building basses and guitars in high school as a musician trying to develop his own style. While studying engineering and industrial technology at Cal Poly State University (San Luis Obispo), Bebensee continued to refine and improve on his designs. In 1983, Bebensee began offering custom built instruments. Bebensee works out of an old wooden shop in San Luis Obispo, and custom creates a handful of instruments per year. Bebensee's instruments are custom built from the highest grade of sustained yield, exotic woods. Bebensee estimates that he has created over eighty instruments since 1983. In 2001/02, KB Guitars and Basses relocated to Nevada City, CA. In 2004, they relocated again to North San Juan, CA.
