JOHNSON GUITARS
Instruments previously built in Talkkeetna, AK during the 1980s and 1990s.
Luthier Johnson started building guitars in 1981. Originally working out of a gutted R.V. trailer, Johnson operated a one-man shop located in his home in rural Alaska, located at the base of Mt. McKinley (North America's tallest mountain). Johnson narrowed down his line of guitar models to a few select models; and as the single builder gave close attention to each commissioned guitar during construction. Johnson offered such custom options as a custom size or design, Englemann spruce or cedar tops, flame walnut back and sides, and onboard electronics. A standard hard shell case was included in the retail prices.
