ACOUSTIC: METAL BODY & RESONATORS
Resonator models feature chrome-plated bell brass bodies, mahogany necks, 14/19-fret rosewood fingerboards, and three-per-side Gotoh tuners. The JM-998 Style O is modeled after the pre-WWII guitars and retails for $678. The JM-998-C Style 0-Cutaway has a single rounded cutaway body (disc. Last MSR $1,650). It was also available with a biscuit pickup as the JM-998-CE (disc. Last MSR $1,850). Other Sterling Style O models include the full body JM-998-D Style 0 is the same as the cutaway model (disc., Last MSR $895); the JM-998-R Style 0 full body model has a different pattern on the resonator plate (disc., Last MSR $895).
Johnson Tricone resonator guitars are modeled after the original, pre-World War II guitars. Models included chrome-plated bell brass bodies, mahogany necks, 12/19-fret rosewood fingerboards, and three-per-side Gotoh tuners. The JM-991 Style I plain body (no design) model lists at $824. The JM-991 Style I Squareneck is also available (MSR $854). The JM-992 Style II (disc., Last MSR $2,295) has the Wild Rose engraved design; the JM-993 Style III (disc., Last MSR $2,995) has the engraved Lily of the Valley design; and the JM-993 Style IV (disc. Last MSR $3,595) has the engraved Chrysanthemum design. There is also painted resonators available, model JM-996.
Johnson wood body resonators typically have spruce or mahogany bodies with different types of resonators. The JR-200 Chicago Blues (disc., last MSR was $328) has a die-cast Spider Bridge, is available with a roundneck or squareneck, and comes in Blueburst or Sunburst finish. The JR-400 Nashville Slide Model (disc., last MSR was $499) has a Sandcast Spider Bridge, is meant for slide guitar, and was available in Natural, Mahogany, Sunburst, or Cherryburst finish. The JR-410 Delta Blues (MSR $430) is available in roundneck or squareneck configurations. The JR-440 Bass (disc., last MSR was $595, $675 with a pickup) is the bass equivilent to the JR-400. The JR-500 Classic Trolian (disc., last MSR was $495) has MOP position markers and a hard maple biscuit bridge. The JR-520-EM Electric Swamp Stomper (MSR $440) is like the JR-500 except has a single cutaway and a built in humbucking pickup with a spun aluminum resonator. The JR-550 Bottle Slide Triolian (MSR $370) is a wood body resonator with a slotted headstock. This model is also available as the JR-550-FEN (MSR $450).
