JACKSON, DOUGLAS R.
ACOUSTIC
The majority of Jackson's acoustic guitars have been the dreadnought style, with his own scalloped bracing pattern. These dreadnought models feature herringbone trim on the front, back, back center strip, and soundhole; ebony fingerboards, bridges, and peghead laminates; curly maple binding, mother-of-pearl inlay; and spruce tops. The backs and sides are constructed out of either mahogany, Indian rosewood, curly koa, curly claro walnut, or curly maple (although other woods have been used through the years). Jackson now regularly makes a body size the same as a resonator or "classical in a steel-string."
Acoustic prices start at $3,000 for a plain mahogany body and go up according to the woods and appointments used. A used one in good condition may sell for $1,000 to $2,000, depending on how fancy a model it is.
