FOLEY GUITARS | ACOUSTIC | Ordering a Foley acoustic is exactly like ordering a custom built guitar. True to form, the price list runs three pages; the customer starts at the top of page one and makes the necessary choices as the list is run down. At the end of the choices for the model, the customer totals up all additional charges, and that is the retail price. All Foley guitars come with a hardshell case and John Pearse strings. The base list price for a Foley acoustic is $4,850 (and that begins with any body size). A left-handed configuration is no extra charge; but a body cutaway adds $650 and the 12-string configuration is an additional $850. The basic model consists of a scalloped brace Sitka spruce top, mahogany sides, two-piece mahogany back, ivoroid or tortoiseshell body binding, black and white rings rosette, dot fingerboard inlay, 24.9 in. or 25.4 in. scale, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, three-per-side chrome Schaller tuners, and choice of black, tortoise, or no pickguard. Any other custom choice carries an additional cost, such as a choice of Engelmann spruce (or flame koa or Alpine or German spruce) top for $400 (each), Brazilian rosewood back and sides ($6,500 for quarter sawn), flame koa for $1,150 or flame maple, birdseye maple, or quilted maple for $850 (each). The list of options is actually staggering, but the end result is a custom built guitar the way the customer wanted it. | |
