The Encore trademark is a brand name of UK importer John Hornby Skewes & Co., Ltd. The company was founded in 1965 by its namesake, Mr. John Hornby Skewes. The Encore line consists of solidly built guitars and basses that feature designs based on popular American favorites. Encore instruments are of medium to good quality, and their model E83 bass was named "Most Popular U.K. Bass Guitar" from 1992 to 1995.
