 CHARIS ACOUSTIC | | Guitars currently produced in Bay City, MI since 1996. | | Luthier Bill Wise builds custom high-end flattop acoustic guitars. In 1996, Wise, an automotive engineer, decided he wanted a better guitar than the junker he had from college. Instead of spending a lot of money on the guitars that were out there, he decided to build his own. In circa 2001, he quit his job and started building guitars full time. Currently, Wise offers two basic shapes in the small jumbo and grand concert body styles. Prices start at $4,500 and cutaways start at $4,950.
