The first two digits indicate the year, the next two the month, and the final two the sequence in that month. For example, 970103 was the third instrument in January 1997. Before 1982 the numbers are a bit chaotic. Chris Larkin has full documentation for almost every instrument that he has ever built, so he can supply a history from the serial number in most cases. | |
