Boaz Elkayam hand builds commissioned guitars, customized prototypes, classical and flamenco style guitars, mandolins, and his Travel Guitar. Elkayam, the son of a violin builder, was taught building techniques of stringed instruments, and has performed restoration work on museum pieces.
Luthier Elkayam handcrafts his guitars using traditional lutherie techniques, and eschews the use of power tools. Elkayam prefers to build with top-of-the-line woods such as Brazilian and Indian rosewood, Macassar and Gaboon ebony, Honduran mahogany, German and Canadian spruce, and Alaskan red cedar.
