Help   Electric Guitars
BLAIR GUITARS LTD.
Instruments previously built in Ellington, CT during the 1990s.
Designer Douglas Blair has over twenty years experience in the music field, and has been building his own guitars since his teens. Blair has recorded three independent EP/LPs, and toured with acts like Run 21 and W.A.S.P. Throughout his professional playing career, Blair found himself constantly switching between his electric guitar and an Ovation acoustic on a stand for live performances. In 1990, Blair conceived of the Mutant Twin guitar model as a way to solve the problem, which combined a solid body half with an "acoustic" half (with hollow tuned sound chamber and Fishman preamp). Prototypes were developed with the aid of Ovation R & D designer Don Johnson in 1990, and the guitar debuted in Boston in 1991. Blair Guitars Ltd. debuted at the 1994 NAMM winter show. In 1997, Blair's design was licensed to Guild (FMIC) as the new Slash signature Crossroads custom design doubleneck guitar.
