 BLACKSHEAR, TOM | | Instruments currently built in San Antonio, TX. | | Tom Blackshear started building classical guitars in 1975. Blackshear builds high quality classical guitar models based on the Spanish motif; particularly the Miguel Rodriguez style in Cordoba, Spain, and since the dynasty has passed on, he is currently known as the keeper of their tradition. Tom also spends substantial time fine-tuning his guitars and has shared his fine-tuning system with notable luthiers around the world. Blackshear considers guitar building his full-time business, but he only makes about four to six guitars a year. Since starting his building career in 1958, Blackshear is currently known as one of the top flamenco guitar builders in the world.
