BARRINGTON
Instruments previously produced in Japan during the late 1980s. Distribution in the U.S. market was handled by Barrington Guitars of Barrington, IL.
Barrington Guitars offered both solid body electric guitars and basses during the late 1980s, as well as acoustic and acoustic/electric models. The guitar models were produced in Japan by Terada. The company now specializes in brass instruments as the L.A. Sax Company of Barrington, Illinois.
Barrington offered both acoustic and acoustic/electric Barrington Gruhn signature series models as well. The acoustics were similar to a design prototype produced in collaboration between George Gruhn and Collings guitars in 1988; and the Barrington models carried a new retail list price between $1,225 and $1,325 (a Fishman transducer pickup was optional equipment on the four models). The AT-1 and AT-2 f-hole archtops were listed new at $1,650. Used prices on these instruments are between $500 and $750.
